The measurements of luminescence and excitation spectra as well as decay kinetics of luminescence can be carried out e.g. at Beamline I using of time-resolved luminescent spectroscopy under selective excitation by synchrotron radiation in vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and soft X-ray energy regions (XUV).
Due to the ultra-high vacuum nature of VUV beamlines, and the essential requirement to prepare atomically clean samples in situ, a typical beamline visit is of about 2 weeks duration for such an experiments.
