BW4 is a X-ray wiggler beamline with instrumentation to measure Small and Wide Angle X-ray Scattering.
A well collimated monochromatic X-ray beam is guided to a sample and the intensity of the radiation which is scattered from this sample under a broad angular range - from small to wide - relative to this incident beam is recorded as a function of the scattering direction.
Analysis of this scattering data provides information about structural inhomogeneities in the sample which can be on length scales of some Angstrom (Wide Angle X-ray Scattering) to a few micrometers (Ultra-Small Angle X-ray Scattering).
