Beamline B1 is a bending magnet beamline specifically designed for anomalous small-angle x-ray scattering measurements (ASAXS) of materials with length scales of interest in the range D = 2π/q = 0.5 – 100 nm. B1 is one of the many x-ray scattering beamlines at HASYLAB. In ASAXS measurements the photon energy is varied close to an absorption edge of an element in the sample. Absorption scans (XANES) can be made at B1 from samples and standard foils to calibrate the energy scale. Simultaneous SAXS and wide-angle x-ray scattering (WAXS) measurements are possible when using a 1D WAXS detector. At this beamline samples are placed in vacuum.

These applications are achieved by B1 setup that has a fixed exit monochromator and a two-dimensional detector with a low background.
