Synchrotron radiation emitted from electrons or positrons in the DORIS III and PETRA III storage rings or the free-electron laser FLASH is used at about 40 experimental stations with about 70 instruments in many ways in fundamental and applied research. The main areas of experiments are: X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction or imaging, X-ray scattering, X-Ray protein crystallography, VUV/XUV spectroscopy/scattering and FEL experiments with soft X-rays (XUV).
