Photon Science Committee (PSC)

The 'Photon Science Committee' is a review panel consulting the DESY directorate consisting of 10 - 16 external members (for a period of 3 years / extension possible) and 2 - 3 internal members. New members will be suggested by the present PSC members. The PSC meetings are usually scheduled twice a year (~ in May and October) and take place at DESY.

The PSC has the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Consult the DESY directorate in all photon science related activities and future strategies.
  • Review current operations or upgrade activities at DORIS III, PETRA III and FLASH.
  • Review the inhouse-research programme.
  • Review proposed future activities or projects relating to the European XFEL.
  • Give recommendations for required expertise and resources.
  • Support external evaluations of the DESY photon science program.

User proposals are discussed and assessed by Research Project Review Panels (PRPs).
