Recording CDs/DVDs at Hasylab

The script record.pl sends data to the CD/DVD recorder which is located in room 113, building 25b. It copies entire directories, not single files.

The names of the directories and files must not contain national characters. If this cannot be avoided, the directory tree has to be compressed into a .zip file before it is sent to the recorder.

• Windows: double-click onN:\medved\public\record.pl

  Note that:

  • Perl has been installed (Perl is a NETINSTALL product).
  • record.pl is invoked via a link to ensure that you are always using the latest version.
  • Windows system files are not copied.
  • The depth of the directory tree must not be greater than 8.
• Linux:
  • The command record is installed on all experiment PCs.
  • For other PCs the script can be downloaded: record.pl It has to be executed with root priviledges: perl /path/to/record.pl.

  Note that:

  • The version of record.pl is maintained on experiment PCs. On other computers this has to be done manually.
  • The depth of the directory tree must not be greater than 8.
  • A samba-client must be active and smbfs must be supported by the kernel (default for kernel versions>=2.4.x)

Maintenance: if software upgrades are necessary, the installation is scheduled for thursdays, 14-15 h.
