Photon Science Committee (PSC)

The 'Photon Science Committee' is a review panel consulting the DESY directorate consisting of 10 - 16 external members (for a period of 3 years / extension possible) and 2 - 3 internal members. New members will be suggested by the present PSC members. The PSC meetings are usually scheduled twice a year (~ in May and October) and take place at DESY.

The PSC has the following duties and responsibilities:

Consult the DESY directorate in all photon science related activities and future strategies.
Review current operations or upgrade activities at DORIS III, PETRA III and FLASH.
Review the inhouse-research programme.
Review proposed future activities or projects relating to the European XFEL.
Give recommendations for required expertise and resources.
Support external evaluations of the DESY photon science program.

User proposals are discussed and assessed by Research Project Review Panels (PRPs).
